benevolence - Our benevolence ministry is a confidential ministry of service to our church families and to those in our community in times of special need, such as emergency financial assistance, practical needs, and referrals.
camp Wakefield - The Wakefield Friends Center is located in Wakefield, VA, approximately 65 miles from Mechanicsville. It is an hour and fifteen minute drive from Hanover Friends. The following summer camps are offered:
caring Christmas Tree - Our Caring Christmas Tree ministry is designed to provide assistance to needy families during the Christmas holiday season. Members of the congregation purchase Christmas gifts for caring Christmas Tree participants. Volunteers work in teams to deliver the food and gifts prior to Christmas day.
community Garden - Our community garden provides free use of raised bed plots to area gardeners of all knowledge levels. The garden follows sustainable, organic gardening principles. Raised beds are assigned each spring on a "first come, first served" basis. The Hanover Master Gardener Association is available to provide gardening knowledge via formal classes at HEFC or the Volunteer Helpdesk. food Ministry - Our Food Ministry provides food free of charge to low income Hanover County residents and Hanover Friends Church or Living Hope Friends Church attendees. Food Ministry occurs on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Participants are allowed to fill up to three grocery bags with foods of their choice. We typically offer a wide variety of foods including meat, baked goods, deli items, fresh produce, and packaged grocery items. To participate in this program a person must bring photo identification showing their current address as being in Hanover County.
food Pantry - This ministry is for anyone in need of food on an emergency basis, and requests are met through scheduled appointments by calling the church office at 730-9512.
friendly Care Day School - This vital outreach to the children and parents of our community is an integral part of the total ministry of HEFC. Our day care programs are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality day care which meets the highest state standards and codes as a Religiously Exempt facility. Our goal is to provide children with an opportunity to grow and mature physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Our day care ministry is an expression of Christian love and a commitment to the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
living Hope Friends Church - Living Hope Friends Church is a daughter congregation that meets in Highland Springs, VA, offering Sunday morning worship and Sunday School, Wednesday evening Bible study, and other planned activities of fellowship. Living Hope Friends Church is located at 301 W. Nine Mile Rd, Highland Springs, VA 23075, phone (804) 737-2221, and is pastored by John Huber.
missions - Our missions ministry is dedicated to keeping before our fellowship the belief that it is the mission of the church to take the Gospel to the world. We actively, financially, and prayerfully support home and foreign missions and continually seek ways to become involved in mission opportunities, including the organization of short-term missions trips from our church.
